about

Like the rest of the world, guitarist and composer Cameron Mizell has found himself at home more than usual these days. To find balance and calm during this tumultuous time, he sat down to record slow, purposeful, and meditative music in his home. Inspired by artists such as Daniel Lanois, Sigur Ros, Brian Eno, Talk Talk, Stars of the Lid, and others, The Order of Things is a cinematic trip through ambient and post-rock textures, melodies, and improvisations. Differing from his past solo albums, 2017’s Memory / Imagination and 2015’s The Edge of Visibility, where Mizell performed each piece in one take using a looping device to create layers, The Order of Things utilizes acoustic and electric guitar overdubs to weave rich tapestries of sound that envelop the listener with a sense of calm. The music and artwork were created by Cameron between March 23 and April 17, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic and released on short notice in hopes of bringing some peace to whomever hears it.
